This is how Second Sock Syndrome happens…..

I am so determined to not have SSS with this pair of socks. I have made good progress considering the presence of The Toddler and the Harry Potter book. where-the-hearts-are.jpg
I am enjoying the angora so much, and they are so pretty. Well I was pretty determined anyway. Until…..
I entered my LYS tonight for knit-night (okay I actually show up in the afternoon and make like a 7 hour thing out of it). And I as usual peruse the inventory. I look at the Manos, I look at the mohair, I wander to the sock yarn, only looking of course! Then I look at the stuff that is so interesting but just doesn’t fit into any idea I am currently fondling. All of a sudden one of these yarns the Anny Blatt Mugues *clicks* (quite loudly). WOW this will look AWESOME with that Sherbet STR I’ve been carting around in my bag for 5 weeks! I just don’t know if I can wait to finish the Heart sock then another one before I put this Muguet with the STR. I can always knit the other sock later, right? Of course I will come back to it. I would never knit just one sock. Of course I used to only have ONE thing on the needles at a time EVER, maybe I should proceed with caution.

Wearing my Heart on My Leg

I have just begun the these socks. I am falling really hard for the angora.
I knew the socks would be pretty, but I didn’t realize how pretty. They are 1000 times more girly than anything I have owned in 25 years, and I can’t wait to wear ‘em. I think there is no chance of second sock syndrome here! Well, not much anyway.

Black Sheep Gathering

My husband and children are the GREATEST!
They ALL went with me to the Black Sheep Gathering.
Were there complaints? None that I heard. Is my husband allergic to Alpacas? Uh-huh. Did he hang out in the Alpaca tent with me? Yup!
Did my son walk the whole event with me, weighing in on fiber texture, color, and project ideas? You bet! He is 13 years old and quite possibly one of my favorite people to yarn shop with. As long as it is soft he thinks buying it is the right thing to do. Geez, I really love that boy.
Even The Toddler had fun. What’s not fun about about running like a crazed animal through a crowd of ladies with dad trying very hard to keep you under wraps? And my eldest daughter was helpful and pleasant the whole time, not an easy task if you are 15.
The focus was mostly on spinning, something I have not learned, and the desire to learn it comes and goes for me.
However, I did stumble upon 1000 yards of undyed mohair, and 6 skeins of Socks that Rock! I was elated — I didn’t even know that there was going to be a Blue Moon Fiber Arts Booth there. Lucky Lucky me!
It was my intention to take oodles of photos, have tons of information about the boths I visited, and the people I spoke with. However I must say it was very much sensory overload for me and I was giddy with the sights before me. All I managed was the picture of my new sock yarn and this funny sign from he alpaca tent. I guess the term ‘garbage’ is relative.
