Embroidery

[edit] Introduction
Embroidery uses yarn or thread to sew a picture or motif onto a knitted object after the knitting has been finished. It is often easier to add very detailed color work or texture after an item has been knitted. This can allow you to motifs that otherwise would be very difficult or impractical to knit.
[edit] Embroidery Stitches
The Duplicate Stitch is one of the most common embroidery stitches. Using a tapestry needle and yarn, a stitch is sewn on top of knitted stitch. This obscures the original stitch from view. It appears that the embroidered stitch was knit as part of the fabric not added later.
