Knitting into the back of a stitch is slight variation of the knit stitch. Instead of inserting the needle from front the back, the needle is inserted through the back loop of the stitch only and then knitted. This results in a twisted knit stitch.
Step By Step Photos
Step 1: Insert the needle through the back loop from right to left
| Step 2: Wrap the yarn around the right needle like you normally would to knit

Step 3: Pull the needle through the stitch from back to front
