Name: Magic Loop

[edit] Introduction

Magic loop is a technique for knitting items with a small circumference in the round on a single long cabled circular needle. It's an old technique whose current name comes from a booklet by Fiber Trends explaining the technique. The technique is similar to using two circular needles to knit in the round. The difference is that the stitches are held on the long part of the cable and not on the second circular needle.

Many knitters find that it is faster and less cumbersome to knit using the magic loop method than using double pointed needles. It doesn't require owning an additional needle like knitting on 2 circulars does. It very popular with sock knitters, but can be used on any small circumference item.
