This hat is a great stash buster hat. You don't need anywhere near a whole ball for any of the colors, so it's a great project for left overs. I used a mismatch of soft cotton yarns that I had on hand.

• Cast on 96 stitches, separate the stitches evenly onto 4 needles (24 stitches per needle)
• Join the yarn in the round being careful not to twist the stitches. Note the beginning of the round by placing a stitch marker after the first stitch of the round.
• *K4, P4 repeat from * for each row. Repeat row for 1" (approx 9 rows)
• Knit all stitches for 1 1/8" (approx 12 rows)

Follow fair isle chart for 13 rows, knit the one extra stitch at the end of the row in color A.

• Knit all stitches for 1" (approx 10 rows)
• *K2tog, K1 repeat from * for 1 row
• Knit all stitches for 1 row
• Repeat the previous 2 rows until there are 9 stitches remaining

• Cut a 6" tail
• Thread the tail through the remaining 9 stitches and pull to tighten
• Weave in all ends
