- Knit in a k2, p2 rib except when the purl stitch on the row below is a different color than the yarn used for the purl stitches.
- If the colors don't match, then substitute a knit stitch for a purl stitch.
- Continue replacing purl stitches with knit stitches until the color on the row below matches the color you're purling with.
- Return to the original k2, p2 rib.
