[edit] Overview

This book is extremely popular and is a nice basic guide to knitting as well as a collection of hip patterns. There are basic tutorials on getting started with knitting including tools needed, how to read a yarn label, and techniques for finishing. There's a chapter that covers correcting basic mistakes and problems and another talks about how to start your own Stich n' Bitch group. The sketches are very helpful for illustrating ideas and concepts.

The patterns include several scarves and hats, bags, a few baby items, and a pile of sweaters. All are fairly unique and fun. There are also a few sewing patterns for making knitting tools such as a tote bag and a needle case.
